Atiku to Reno: Joblessness is a disease we must cure

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has said that joblessness is a disease his government must cure if elected in 2019.

The former Vice President also said that the symptoms of joblessness are crimes and so, must be tamed by the creation of millions of jobs for the teaming jobless Nigerians.

Abubakar gave the statement during a chat with the number one bestselling author and former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Reno Omokri. The chat was revealed in a tweet by Pastor Omokri.

According to Atiku, only through job creation can his government be adjudged as haven done its job. He said, if they failed to create jobs, then they would have failed at doing their jobs. According to him, “Reno, we must create jobs. Joblessness is a disease and the symptoms are crime and terrorism. The best way to fight the outcomes is by curing the disease. If we do not create jobs, then we have failed at doing our jobs.”

Meanwhile, Pastor Omokri has urged the All Progressives Congress, APC, party to list the jobs that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government has created since inception of office.

Pastor Omokri who listed the Jobs the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, created to include,”from just American University of Nigeria, Faro, Rica Gardo & Standard Microfinance. Atiku created 50k jobs, to mention a few” however challenged the APC to, “list Buhari’s jobs!”

According to him, “@OfficialAPCNg is silly to say @Atiku must list jobs he created. Their focus should be jobs @MBuhari created. Let me humor them. From just American University of Nigeria, Faro, Rica Gardo & Standard Microfinance. Atiku created 50k jobs, to mention a few. APC, list Buhari’s jobs!”

“Cluelessness is when President @MBuhari accuses past administrations of not building infrastructure only for his finance minister to announce the next day that govt is so broke that they are selling national assets built by past governments to fund their 2019 budget #RenosDarts.”

Also taking a swipe at Buhari for criticising the past government of Jonathan, Pastor Omokri tweeted, “@MBuhari is an ingrate for saying Jonathan did nothing for infrastructure. Who built the only federal university in Buhari’s state? Who built the $1.4 billion Abuja-Kaduna railway? Who revived the railways? Who built the Total Radar Coverage of Nigeria (TRACON)? #RenosDarts.”

Coalition endorses Atiku for President

The South-South Community Association of Nigeria (SOSCAN) has agreed to float a common campaign strategy to assist the PDP presidential candidate win the 2019 presidential election.
SOSCAN is the umbrella body for all the groups in the South South working for the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the country’s president, come next year.
Reverend David Vama Idabor, the National Coordinator of SOSCAN, said the coalition was set up to synergise for the common goal of supporting Atiku.
”Atiku Abubakar as president will give hope to the ordinary Nigerians. He will revamp the economy and make Nigeria working again,” Idabor stated.
The group has been directed to put up Atiku support structures nationwide while states and regional coordinators for the national campaign will be inaugurated in Lagos in the next two weeks.
Some of the groups that floated this common platform include: South-South Community Association of Nigeria (SOSCAN), The Mandators Forum of Nigeria, Youths for Atiku Presidency and Women Society for Good Governance.
The merger groups with structures in 25 states of the federation and the FCT, have directed members to commence work.

Atiku Abubakar Mourns Chief Tony Anenih

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, says the death of Chief Tony Anenih, has left a vacuum in the political landscape.
Atiku Abubakar said this in a statement issued by his Media Aide, Paul Ibe, on Monday in Abuja.

He noted that role of the deceased had played in ensuring stability not only in the PDP but also in the country at large, stood him out as a patriot who dedicated his life to the service of humanity.

Atiku Abubakar said that the late Chief Tony Anenih did his best for the country, adding that his death at a time the nation was going into electioneering campaigns was saddening.

He said: “Indeed, I have lost a great friend of decades.
“I am particularly pained that Chief  Tony Anenih left the stage at a time the party and the nation need his wealth of experience the more, especially in our collective quest to restore good governance and democratic ideals in our country.”

Atiku Abubakar, who described Chief Tony Anenih as a great political colossus and patriot, said his ability to consistently, at every turn, resolve knotty political puzzles, earned him the sobriquet of ‘Mr. Fix It’.
He commiserated with the family of the deceased, the government and people of Edo State and urged them to take solace in the fact that the elder statesman left his indelible footprints on the annals of the nation’s democratic history.

PDP Yet To Name Further Members of Presidential Campaign Council

For sake of emphasis, the attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to a phony post circulating in the social media and purporting that the PDP has released further names to make up its 2019 Presidential Campaign Council.

The fabricators of the post even went further to allocate offices to certain individuals, claiming same to be officially assigned by the leadership of our great party.
For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP has not released any further names other than those earlier released as members of the Presidential Campaign Council.
Currently, the only names and offices assigned and released by the party are those of the Director-General and Zonal Coordinators of the 2019 Presidential campaign as follows:
1. H.E Dr. Bukola Saraki – Director-General
2. H.E Aminu Waziri Tambuwal – Zonal Coordinator, North West.
3. H.E Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo – Zonal Coordinator, North East
4. H.E. Dr. Samuel Ortom – Zonal Coordinator, North Central.
5. H.E Nyesom Wike – Zonal Coordinator South South
6. H.E Ayodele Fayose – Zonal Coordinator, South West
7. H.E Engr. Dave Umahi – Zonal Coordinator South East.
8. H.E Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN- Chairman, Legal Matters
9. H.E. Emmanuel Udom – Chairman, Fund Raising Committee
The PDP cautions that any other names being bandied around and purported to have emanated from the party should be discountenanced accordingly.
The party therefore urges all members to remain calm and await further announcement by the National Working Committee on the composition of the Campaign Council in due course.

Atiku will return PDP to Power in 2019 - Babatope

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ebenezer Babatope, on Thursday said the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, will win the 2019 election. Babatope, a former Minister of Transport, said he is confident that Atiku will defeat President Muhammadu Buhari to return PDP to power.

Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeated former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 to break the PDP’s 16-year rule. He said Atiku is an experienced politician with the capacity, credentials and clout to win and return power to PDP. “Atiku is the new face of the PDP. It is time for the party to win back power because I am confident Atiku will win… My confidence is based on his political experience from being the founder of the PDM with late Yar’adua to being the Vice-President where he did very well.
“He also has national appeal as he is a detribalised Nigerian with successful businesses all over. He is a bridge builder, a man with great capacity and passion to lead.
“Atiku is the next president. Our People want him. He will rescue Nigeria, I am so sure he will win,” he said.
Asked if the former vice-president did not have the ascribed qualities when he failed in his past attempts to be president, Babatope said everyone has his appointed time. He noted that Buhari also failed in his past attempts under different parties to be president until 2015 when he emerged under APC.
Babatope said 2019 is the destined year for Atiku’s presidency and that Nigerians will be better for it.
He said the selection of former governor Peter Obi of Anambra State as Atiku’s running mate will improve the party’s victory margin in the election.
He added that the APC has failed Nigerians and that the PDP will return in 2019 “to restore hope”.
Babatope said though the South-West PDP is not in the zoning equation of the party for now, he believes the region will gain massively at the end of the day.
“We know how we do our things in the party to favour everybody. For now, we are preparing for the election, by the time we win, I am sure the South-West PDP will gain big from the power arrangement,” he said.

Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization distance self from Online Grant Disbursement Scheme

The Presidential Campaign Organization (APCO) for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar has distance itself from the supposed plans to disburse grants to unsuspecting Nigerians.

The organization in a statement said that its attention have been drown to claims that the organization have embarked on an on-going scheme that is meant to disburse grants to Nigerians.
According to the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization;
‘’Information available to us reveal that the scheme Code-named ‘Atiku Grant Disbursement Programme’ (see link bit.ly/2NP4vup) is asking unsuspecting members of the public to contribute a certain amount of money which will be multiplied for them after they have downloaded a particular social media application’’.

APCO disclaims this scheme and any other in such manner.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization is not in any way involved in the scheme or any other in such manner and neither did it give a proxy authorization.”

The organization admonished Nigerians to disregard such false publication, stating that the communication has nothing to do with it.
It said the official/verified social media handles of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party are www.atiku.org (Blog); www.facebook.com/atiku.org (Facebook); www.twitter.com/atiku (Twitter); and www.instagram.com/aatiku (Instagram).
It also advised them to refrain from participating in any online scheme that aimed at defrauding innocent Nigerians and with the ulterior motive to embarrass the presidential campaign of Atiku Abubakar. The public are hereby advised to beware.

From Editors Desk: The Road to 2019 for Atiku Abubakar, ''The Real Change''.

In the aftermath of the 2015 general election, it was expected that the victorious All Progressive Congress (APC) will use its supposed magic wand to build castles in the air for Nigerians overnight but this was not to be as the APC Change mantra was one of deception and deceit.

As the February 2019 General Election draws closer, one can only reflect on the historical events that characterized the election of 2015; the intrigues, highlights, tears, joy… It should be noted that the 2015 general election ended with laudable encomium from Nigerians and the international community as one of the most keenly contested election in the history of Nigeria with the opposition All Progressive Congress Candidate winning by slim margin. It was termed free and fair in some quarters while in other quarters, it was termed rigged and a gang up against the sitting president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

In the end, everyone welcomed the outcome of the 2015 general election as for the first time in the history of the country; a sitting president conceded defeat and congratulated the opposition party’s candidate. This was the highlight of the 2015 general election as it has never happened that a sitting president would lose an election and even went ahead to congratulate the opposition candidate.
One must not forget that the opposition political party; the All Progressive Congress (APC) came on board via a mantra known as ‘’Change’’.  Their success at the 2015 polls can be attributed to the great coalition of some major and minor political parties such as All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), a breakaway faction of the then ruling party the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) et al.

The politics of the 2015 general election which saw the opposition political party the All Progressive Congress (APC) victorious can be termed as the politics of CHANGE ably influenced by big deflection and cross carpeting from the ruling PDP to the APC of some political big wigs such as Atiku Abubakar, Bukola Saraki, Musa Kwankwaso, Dino Melaye, Aminu Tambuwal, Samuel Ortom, et al. This big deflection tilted the balance of power principle in favour of the All Progressive Congress (APC) which ultimately culminated in the 2015 general election victory for the APC.
Also of importance is the Olusegun Obasanjo factor which worked in favour of the All Progressive Congress after he endorsed Gen. Muhammadu Buhari who was the then flag bearer for the opposition political party the APC for the 2015 general election.

The influence of the breakaway faction of the Peoples Democratic Party which also comprises Atiku cannot be overemphasized in that this breakaway and ultimate deflection to the APC in 2014 tilted the political balance of power in favour of the APC and which in the end played a pivotal role in ensuring victory for Buhari and the All Progressive Congress.

In the aftermath of the 2015 general election, it was expected that the victorious All Progressive Congress (APC) will take over power and use its magic wand to build castles in the air for Nigerians overnight but this was not to be as the APC Change mantra was one of deception and deceit. It will be recalled that one of the promises in the manifesto of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the youths and unemployed in the country was the payment of Five Thousand Naira to all but this was not to be as the minister of information Lai Mohammed openly denied such promise by saying that ’’ The president did not promise such and that Nigerians should be aware that such promise was made by the party and not the president- therefore, the party’s manifesto is different from that of the president’’. Well, to the best of my knowledge, a party's manifesto is same as that of its candidate. It follows therefore that the All Progressive Congress had a deceptive manifesto right from the beginning.

One of the mistakes Nigerians made in the run up to the 2015 election was not asking properly what kind of CHANGE the All Progressive Congress (APC) was bringing to the table.
In 2015, I guess so many people in the country craved for a positive change and not negative but few years on, it is crystal clear that the APC mantra of Change is one of deception and deceit. For example, between 2015 till date, it is more difficult for a common man to have a single meal a day not to talk of having two square meals daily.

The office of the First Lady which was in quote ‘’scrapped’’ was in the real sense of it not scrapped as the first lady still enjoys the luxury enjoyed by all other past first lady.

Nigeria and Nigerians are poorer than they were in 2015.

The exchange rate of Naira to the Dollar has gone up tremendously from 197 naira in 2015 to 360 naira in 2018.

The price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) rose to 145 naira per liter from 87 naira
 in 2015.

Nigerians are more divided along ethnic and religious lines compared to 2015 as a result of Buhari’s one sided political appointments into executive and ministerial offices.

Insecurity has taken a total different dimension as innocent Nigerians are slaughtered on a daily basis by Boko haram and a new breed of terrorist known as Herdsmen and which Buhari himself has refused to declare them as terrorist.

Farmers and Herders clash is a daily occurrence as this has taken a toll on the safety of farmers and herders alike in the country.

Hijack of the executive by some cabals; it will be recalled that on the order to suspend Buhari’s Secretary to the government of the Federation ‘’ Babachir Lawal’’ from his position and having been accosted by various journalist to hear his take on his suspension he asked ‘’Who is the Presidency’’? This is an affirmation of such hijack. It will also be recalled that the wife of the president has openly attested to this fact holding that his husband is no longer ruling the country and that it has been hijacked.

The fight against corruption has suddenly become a tool for witch hunt of all opposition parties’ members as members of his party enjoys immunity from investigation and prosecution. In the words of a political analyst, ‘’ How can someone say he is fighting corruption when he came to power on the back of corruption. He said he had no money to contest yet his sponsors where all well-known corrupt individuals…This is laughable though’’.
The failure of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to deliver on their manifesto since 2015 will ultimately lead to their downfall in the 2019 general election with so many Nigerians dissatisfied with their failed system of governance in providing basic amenities for the masses, lack of a focus in governance, disregard for the rule of law, poverty and hunger in the country.

As God will have it, a rejuvenated, more focused and united Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has succeeded in having one of the best, free, fair, credible and transparent political party’s primaries as a preparation to take over power in 2019. The party’s primary for the presidential ticket was keenly contested by different political heavy weights such as; Atiku Abubakar, Bukola Saraki, Datti Baba Ahmed, Sule Lamido, Ibrahim Dakwanbo, Aminu Tambuwal, Ahmed Makarfi, David Mark, Jonah Jang, Tanimu Turaki, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Attahiru Bafarawa.

Many analyst had previously opined that for PDP to come out victorious in the 2019 polls, it needs a candidate with vast knowledge of and has a solution to the political, economic, socio cultural problems bedeviling the country, one who is detribalized and has general acceptability across the strata of the geo political zones of the country. Hence the party’s choice of Atiku Abubakar; popularly known as mr. jobs and employment.

Since his victory in the party’s presidential primaries, Atiku Abubakar has been endorsed by some high profile Nigerians including the former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

The choice of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party came in handy as Nigerians clamour for a change of the APC led federal government in the forthcoming 2019 general election. His policy statement is simple and self-explanatory; he has created a 94-paged policy document to reposition Nigeria and get the country working again. The opening paragraphs of the document read as follows: ‘’ Whilst the elites live pampered lives, the vast majority of the population is trapped in poverty and underdevelopment. The middle class has crumbled under the weight of a rent –seeking economic environment. Few can hope for a decent education; there is not enough jobs; infrastructure and public services are inadequate while basic social security has no real meaning. Too many Nigerians live in fear of violent crimes, communal clashes and savage acts of terrorism. Most feel betrayed by the very  Institutions that were set up to serve and protect them and by corrupt and self-serving politicians.
Indifferent, ill equipped and often brutal security forces and a weak legal and judicial system fuel public distrust of the state and feed into the widely held belief that institutions don’t matter. This must CHANGE!’’.
He went further to indicate that ‘’ I believe that oil is not Nigeria’s biggest asset, Nigerians are’’.

Atiku’s policy statements to get Nigeria working again has set the ball rolling for the provision of basic amenities for the common man, Restructuring, Economic diversification, Agriculture, Jobs Creation, Security, Education, Infrastructure, Power, works and housing, Youth inclusiveness in governance etc.

All these are not empty promises as he has been tasted and trusted. His running mate Peter Obi is also a meticulous and astute personality who has shown diligence in managing the affairs of Anambra state for eight years. His economic experience will be needed to salvage the country from the current economic mess.

Without doubt, Atiku Abubakar will be Nigeria’s president come February 2019. He can get Nigeria working again.

Atiku gains momentum ahead of February 2019 General Elections.

Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari must think history is threatening to repeat itself as he watches his main challenger in the forthcoming February 2019 general election, Atiku Abubakar gain more followership and endorsement and do what he did three years ago by building a broad base alliance to win power in the world’s most populous black nation.

It should be noted however that in 2015, Buhari rode atop a wide coalition to become the first opposition candidate to defeat an incumbent president in the country but failed to deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians three years on.

In 2018 however, with his former allies in 2015 throwing their weight behind Atiku Abubakar, among whom is former president Olusegun Obasanjo, the pendulum has swung the clock in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Candidate; Atiku Abubakar to win the 2019 general election.

From the Editors Desk: The Personality of Atiku Abubakar

As we prepare our minds to take upon the delicate task of choosing who will rule the country in 2019 for the next four years, Nigerians must sift through words and gauge intent, and the best way to do this is to study antecedents, actions, the strength and conviction of words and body language.

The personality of Atiku Abubakar in the race to the Aso Rock in 2019 truly reflects the yearnings of Nigerians as a savior to salvage Nigerians from their sufferings and the clueless government of the All Progressive Congress government. It is no longer news that Nigerians are more divided now than before, Creepy Economy, Nigerians now live on less than 50 Cent a day which made report suggest Nigeria as the poorest country in the world, Unemployment has risen tremendously, Youth Restiveness, Insecurity has never been seen in such magnitude in the history of the country, Dictatorial and Draconian rule is at its height, Disregard for the rule of law, equality and the principle of separation of power, Press Freedom suppressed, Corruption has taken a new dimension, Electoral Vote Buying is now the new norm in our Electioneering process etc.

From the foregoing, one can easily infer that the current administration where never ready to take over political control of the country neither were they specific on the nature of change they were bringing to Nigeria and Nigerians. In the aftermath of the 2015 election, Nigerians thought they had seen a messiah in President Muhammadu Buhari but little did we know that in four years of his administration, we will be 10 years behind civilization.

To cut a long and an unending story short, Nigeria is on a standstill and we should all concentrate on getting Nigeria to work again and this can only be achieved by the decision we take in 2019 going into the February General election. We as a country will have to decide to either remain stagnated or move forward.

To solve these myriad of issues bedeviling Nigeria, one person comes to mind, Atiku Abubakar.
As the presidential flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a youth oriented individual, the personality of ATIKU ABUBAKAR comes into play. Atiku Abubakar has created a 94-paged policy document to reposition Nigeria and get the country working again.

Prior to his political position as the vice president in 1999, Atiku Abubakar won the 1998 governorship elections of Adamawa state under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). But before Atiku could be sworn in as the governor, he was tapped by the PDP’s presidential candidate, Olusegun Obasanjo to be his vice presidential candidate. The Obasanjo-Atiku ticket obviously won them 62.78% of the vote. Going through his political career and as a business tycoon, one cannot but establish his myriad achievements.

Atiku Abubakar unlike other politicians does not boast of having a magic wand to turn the country around over night, but like a good administrator, he streamlines a well thought out goals while creating platforms to achieving those goals and with its desired results. Hence his achievements cannot be overemphasized:

After Atiku was sworn into office as vice president, he presided over the National Council on Privatization. He took up the responsibility of overseeing the sale of hundreds of loss making and poorly managed public enterprise in the country.

Secondly, Atiku launched the South Africa Nigeria Bi-national Commission. He, alongside South African deputy president Jacob Zuma in 1991 launched the South Africa Nigeria Binational Commission.

Thirdly, Atiku is a staunch believer of education as a priority for every Nigeria child hence his establishment of the American University of Nigeria (AUN). Founded in 2004, the school is the only American styled university in the whole of sub-Saharan Africa.

In the same vein to foster the education in Nigeria, he introduced the Atiku Abubakar special scholarship offer which is tenable in Nigeria and oversea. The school currently runs scholarship programme for the internally displaced children in the country.

Furthermore, he is a philanthropist interested in human capital development: Atiku believes that philanthropy is an investment which has multiplier effect. He sees development as the effort to increase the productive capacity of a society, improve the people’s wellbeing and expand the frontiers of freedom, while protecting the ecosystem for current and future generations. An individual’s success is deemed to be of limited social value if it does not lead to the success of others in the family, clan or community.

In addition, the Atiku Abubakar Foundation for the less privilege is geared at helping the less privilege persons in the society irk a living for themselves through legitimate means.
It is important to note that while Atiku was vice president, the telecommunication sector received a huge boost and by 2007, telephone lines had grown to over 50million. It should be known that in 1999, Nigeria has less than 500,000 telephone lines and through the telecommunication revolution it grew to over 50million. Innovation can fundamentally change our economy.

In Atiku’s word ‘’ I believe that oil is not Nigerians biggest asset, Nigerians are’’.

Flowing from the aforesaid, Atiku’s policy statements to get Nigeria working again has set the ball rolling for the provision of basic amenities for the common man, Restructuring, Economic diversification, Agriculture, Jobs Creation, Security, Education, Infrastructure, Power, works and housing, Youth inclusiveness in governance etc.

In this light therefore, Atiku Abubakar deserves to be Nigeria’s president come February 2019. He alone can get Nigeria working again.

I had the pleasure of meeting with the Archbishop of Canterbury, His Grace Justin Welby, and the UK High Commissioner, Paul Arkwright. We had very positive deliberations.
