Atiku Will Bring Dignity, Respect To His Duties – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2019 elections, Atiku Abubakar, will bring grace and dignity to any assignment he is given.
Obasanjo said this on Saturday during the turning of Abubakar as the seventh Waziri Adamawa by His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Muhammadu Aliyu Barkindo Mustapha, the Lamido of Adamawa.
He said: “When we were in Abuja and dealing with the affairs of governance, you did not take lightly cultural affairs back home.
“By every standard, you are a cultured and a cultural person.
“Whatever responsibility you have at the national and international level, I know you will carry this new office with respect and dignity.”
Abubakar vowed to ensure the relevance of traditional institutions in the country by promoting their values and principles to the rest of the world.
He said he would not relent in promoting and advancing the cause and principles of Adamawa Emirate and traditional institutions in general in the country.
Referring to Obasanjo as his boss, the former vice president thanked him his contributions to his mentoring.
He added: “Your royal highness has now given me the highest honour available to anyone from a modest background and achievement.
“The late Lamido, HRH Aliyu Mustapha, may his soul rest in peace, appointed me Turakin Adamawa at the age of 35, making me a confidant and council member of the emirate.
“As his successor, you have accorded me the second highest position, which I am receiving with profound humility with my turbaning as Wazirin.”
Mustapha said Abubakar was honoured because of his contributions to the development of Nigeria in general and Adamawa State in particular.
He said: “Atiku has also contributed greatly to unifying the people of Adamawa and providing useful advice to the emirate.
“The position of Wazirin, which is the highest in the council, puts him in charge of administration of the emirate and is given to people who are educated, honest and God fearing.

Former Vice President and the Presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has been turbaned the 7th Waziri of Adamawa Emirate.
The position of Waziri makes the former Vice President next to the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo, in the emirate.
Notable among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony are two former Presidents of Nigeria: Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo. Former Vice President Namadi Sambo was also at the occasion.
President of the Senate and DG of Atiku’s Presidential Campaign Council, Bukola Saraki was also present at the occasion along with his House of Representatives Counterpart Hon. Yakubu Dogara.

The Lamido of Adamawa said Atiku was honoured with the title of Waziri because of his immense contributions to the development of Nigeria, particularly Adamawa State, where his impact was felt in various sectors.
“Atiku has also contributed greatly to unifying the people of Adamawa and providing useful advice to the emirate.
“The position of Waziri, which is the highest in the council puts him in charge of administration of the emirate and is given to people who are educated, honest and God fearing.
“It’s not hereditary and can go to anyone who deserves it.”
While urging the new Waziri to continue to carry everyone along and unite the people of Adamawa for more development, Barkindo urged all other traditional title holders to cooperate with the new Waziri.

My Government Will be Youth Oriented - Atiku

His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming 2019 general election has pledged that if voted to power, 40% of his administration will be dedicated to the youths, while 30% for the women folks and 30% for the adults.

H.E Atiku Abubakar who spoke Tuesday night in a function in Yola put together by the Atiku/Obi Vanguard for Good Governance stated that he decided to allocate the largest percentage of power of his government to the Youths because they form 70% of the voting population in Nigeria.

It should be known however that 70% of Nigerian voters are youths and women who successive administration has neglected.

‘’Successive administrations have continued to give prominence to the adults in running the governments and they have failed to replicate the tenets of democracy’’ Atiku regretted.

‘’ Unless we shift emphasis and place youths of the country in the rightful places in the scheme of things, we will continue to have the reoccurring restive problem bedeviling the nation’’, Atiku Abubakar added.

‘’Obviously the APC led government has failed to implement all youth related policies and programmes and these are responsible for the growing youth restiveness in most of the states of the country.

H.E Atiku Abubakar therefore called on all youths to vote out the APC government for not meeting the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.

‘’My duty is to get Nigeria Working Again’’.

Task Force Battalion attack: Atiku grants scholarships to victims children

His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2019 general elections, has called on the federal government and well-meaning Nigerians to rise in support of families of the nation’s fallen military personnel who died in the line of duty.
Atiku in a condolence message to the Nigerian Army over the recent attack that led to loss of lives of officers and men of the 157 Task Force Battalion in Metele, Borno State, also tasked those desirous of celebrating his birthday to channel their resources to charitable organizations dedicated to the cause of the common man.
“These deaths are very painful and the loss of even one member of our armed forces pierces my heart because these heroes did not have to die. They volunteered to do a job that keeps this nation safe.
“The gallant men and women of our security services are our first and last line of defense against enemies of our nation and deserve the support and confidence of all Nigerians. We sleep well at night in our beds, because they stay awake uncomfortably in the fields.
“I feel immense sadness when I think of the families they leave behind and pray Almighty God to grant their surviving family members fortitude to bear up in a time like this.
“These men and women gave their best and we must reciprocate their sacrificial giving.
“Instead of celebrating my birthday this year, which is coming up in a few days, I choose to rather celebrate our fallen heroes.
“As such, I hereby declare an endowment to provide full financial scholarships to five children of our fallen heroes from the 157 Task Force Battalion in Metele up to whatever level they are able and willing to reach at the American University of Nigeria, Yola.
“I further call on those who desire to celebrate my birthday, that instead of sending me gifts, they should donate their gifts and money to the widows and orphans of our fallen military heroes.
“I also call on all Nigerians, rich or poor to do what they can for the families of our fallen heroes. They gave us all. We owe it to them to show love and support to the families they left behind.
“I call on the federal government to think about setting up a benevolent fund for the support of widows and children of our fallen military heroes, run by an independent body, to which the public and corporate bodies can pay in funds. This is the least that we owe these gallant heroes,” he wrote in a statement.

Pray for me as my Birthday Wishes, Atiku Tells Supporters

H.E Atiku Abubakar and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  has enjoined his family, friends, and associates to withhold from placing adverts to congratulate him on his 72nd birthday coming up on November 25.
The Former Vice President of Nigeria, made this known through a press statement made available by his media aide, Paul Ibe.

“With utmost humility and appreciation of their good intentions, the Waziri Adamawa would prefer if his well-wishers instead channeled their funds for adverts and congratulatory messages in the media, into charity organizations of their choice, such as orphanages.”

“Atiku  Abubakar understands clearly that birthdays are a time of celebration, of looking back and thanking God for life, for achievements and milestones, and for great expectations of a more glorious future to come. He is also painfully aware that, at this time, many Nigerians have little to celebrate: the millions who are out of jobs, the civil servants who are owed months of salaries, the indigenes of villages and towns across Nigeria whose daily reality is violent insurgency or spontaneous attacks, the tens of millions whose dire economic circumstances have earned Nigeria the shameful title of the world’s extreme poverty capital of the world to mention but a few.”

“These times call for sober reflection and prayer, rather than extreme merriment and jollification. These times require laser sharp focus on rescuing Nigeria from economic crisis and global ignominy. These times must be dedicated solely to the task of getting Nigeria working again, on JOBS (Jobs, Opportunities, Being United and Security).”

“The time for celebration will definitely come. But, first of all, the battle for the soul of our nation must be won.”

Atiku Abubakar thanks Nigerians for their overwhelming support of his quest to lead our great country out of darkness into light in 2019.”

“He humbly asks that they, please, keep him constantly in their prayers, on his birthday and afterwards, for the battle truly belongs to the Almighty God.”

If I were Nigerian, I would vote for Atiku Abubakar – Ex-Ugandan VP

Former Vice President of Uganda, from 2003-2011, Dr. Gilbert Bukenya, has said that if he were a Nigerian, that he would vote for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections, Atiku Abubakar.
Dr. Bukenya who has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Makrere also said that he would vote for Atiku Abubakar without hesitation or reservation because, “on an individual basis, he is unequivocally the best candidate.”
According to the former Ugandan Vice President, Abubakar is so passionate about the common good of the ordinary Nigerian that he never ceases to say “my people.”
Dr. Bukenya said he was left with so much to contemplate, during his encounter with Abubakar, that he never stopped thinking of how Nigerians are so lucky having the person of Atiku Abubakar as a Nigerian.
He said when he heard Abubakar had joined the presidential race, he immediately thought, “what an extraordinary opportunity Nigerians have.”
Below is his statement:
“I have rubbed shoulders with several African Presidents and Vice-Presidents. I have participated in many conversations with these men – both formally and informally.
Some of these conversations have attracted attention and many have been amusing – but very few have included intellectual and analytical discussions of substantive issues. Seldom in these conversations does one hear about the conditions and needs of the country’s poor.
In 2005, I met a man at his residence in Abuja, Nigeria, who surprised me. He welcomed me with a guarded smile and went straight to business. He was smart, eloquent and very knowledgeable. I was struck by his consistent reference to “my people.”
He was so concerned about the poor. He discussed impacts of educational injustices and weakened agricultural practices in Nigeria. Our conversation ended and we parted. While I left him with some traditional Ugandan gifts, he left me with much to contemplate. This Nigerian “big man” had sounded so earnest and completely devoted to “his people”. Surely, I was surprised and he has left a lasting impression.
We have remained friends over the years and I have observed his business and political dealings over time. I have noted the tremendous value that this man, Atiku Abubakar, has contributed to Nigeria’s development. He has been a philanthropic leader and a determined and passionate advocate for improving the national educational system.
I heard recently with great pleasure that he is running for the Presidency in the upcoming Presidential elections. I immediately thought, “What an extraordinary opportunity Nigerians have to elect Atiku as president of Nigeria.” If I were Nigerian, I would vote for Atiku Abubakar without hesitation or reservation. On an individual basis, he is unequivocally the best candidate.”

His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar launches presidential campaign, calls it ‘The Atiku Plan’

His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has launched his campaign for the 2019 presidential election.
He called it The Atiku Plan.
In a live broadcast via his verified Twitter handle Atiku Abubakar @atiku, the ex-vice president said: “Today, I am formally presenting myself to you as the presidential candidate of not just the @OfficialPDPNig, but of the hopes and aspirations of all Nigerians…
“The most important question in this election is: “Are you better off than you were four years ago? Are we richer or poorer?” That is why our primary focus is on getting Nigeria working again.

“I am strongly of the view that I am just one Nigerian and one Nigerian cannot be as wise as all Nigerians. That is why I will offer an inclusive leadership.

“Atiku Abubakar is 100% for 100% of Nigerians, 100% of the time..
“Too often, Nigerians have been promised better governance by those seeking their votes.
“Such individuals have preyed on the legitimate desires of our people for their conditions to be improved, that they make all sorts of promises.
“I am not one for making grandiose promises. Rather than promises, I believe in policies.
“A promise is an indication to do a future action. A policy is a plan to achieve future goals.
“As the International Monetary Fund stated very recently, it is the failure of this government to have a coherent and comprehensive set of policies combined with poor leadership that has led to its failure to deliver.
“Over the last 18 months, I have worked with the best experts Nigeria has to offer to come up with policies and plans that when implemented will get Nigeria going in the right direction again.”

I married Atiku for his integrity – Titi Abubakar

Hajiya Titi Abubakar, wife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, said she married her husband because of his honesty, sincerity and integrity.
Mrs Atiku made the remarks when a group, Women for Atiku, paid her a courtesy visit at her Maitama residence in Abuja.
“I get confused whenever I read the false allegations of corruption being peddled by mischief makers against my husband in the media.
“I ask myself if they are referring to my husband whom I have been married to for 47 years or a different person.
“No one knows my husband like I do and their descriptions of him are totally that of a different person and not that of the man I love and adore because of his uprightness.
She said they were brought together by destiny and had been endeared to him because of his sterling qualities and patriotism to his fatherland.
“I was on my way back to Nigeria from Benin Republic where I visited my aunt and was accosted by custom officials at the Idi-Iroko Boarder who demanded for payment of a duty for the pair of brocade material which was a gift from my aunt.
“An argument ensued between us and I told them to keep the material because I would not pay duty for a pair of brocade, and a gift at that.
“The officer, who was Head of the Command at that time intervened, paid for the duty charge and gave me the receipt.
“One thing led to the other, we hooked up later and the rest is now history.
“As the head, he could have chosen to order that I be allowed to go, but he paid for the duty and that act from that time impressed me and I fell deeply in love with the man Atiku,’’ she said.
The National Coordinator of Women for Atiku, Mrs Blessing Ebera, thanked Mrs Abubakar for the warm reception accorded her group and pledged that it would continue to mobilise women across every ward to vote for Atiku Abubakar come 2019.
She said that the National leadership and the 36 state coordinators of the group visited to inform her that with the commencement of campaign, the group was set to penetrate every corner of Nigeria to mobilise support towards an Atiku victory in 2019.
Ebera said that the group would also embark on voters’ mobilisation and education.
She said that the acquisition of Permanent voters Card (PVC) would be mandatory for every female of voting age in Nigeria.
She urged those that registered but were yet to collect their PVCs to visit the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for collection.
She assured Mrs Abubakar that members of the group had strategized to mobilise at least 50 women in every ward across the country through synergy with other women support groups.

Atiku Releases Policy Document, Promises To Create Three Million Jobs Each Year

His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , has promised to create three million jobs every year if he is elected as president in the 2019 election.
This is one of the key points in the policy document released by the PDP flagbearer today (Sunday), which details a seven-year timeline in which he intends to deliver on his campaign promises.
Giving a breakdown of the rate of unemployment in the country, Atiku said, “Close to 16 million people are unemployed, nine million more than in 2014.
“Over two million new entrants join the labour force each year meaning the unemployed share of the labour force more than tripled in less than a decade: from 5.1% in 2010 to 18.8% in 2017
“Unemployment for women and young people is at 33%, 70% of unemployed youths are uneducated and unskilled.
“Creating jobs and economic opportunities for these people will be vital both for reducing the pool of easy recruits for violent groups and reducing underlying grievances that feed the conflict”.
As a solution, he said his administration, if elected in 2019 will, “Launch a new, more efficient, cost-effective and sustainable national Entrepreneurship Development and Job Creation Programme.
“Target the creation of up to three million self and wage-paying employment opportunities in the private sector annually.
“Target all categories of youth, including graduates, early school leavers as well as the massive numbers of uneducated youth who are currently not in schools, employment or training.
“Create incubation centres, clusters and industrial/commercial hubs to provide a marketplace for MSMEs and SMPs.
“Champion the repositioning and streamlining the activities of the existing Federal and State Government Job Creation Agencies”.
Apart from job creation, the document also lists three other areas of priority namely infrastructure development, human capital development and poverty eradication.
According to the former Vice President, he has plans to lift 50 million Nigerians out of poverty, by 2025.
Furthermore, he stated that he has plans to privatise the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and also sell all four national refineries.
Other area of focus in terms of infrastructure is the construction of 5,000 kilometres of roads, and 5,000 kilometres of modern railway.
A statement released on Saturday, by the Atiku Campaign Organisation, had explained that Atiku’s decision to kick-start his presidential campaign with the launch of his policy document was to reiterate his commitment to running an issue-based campaign.
It added that the intention was to take their policy directly to Nigerians and to register Atiku’s belief that it would take the collective efforts of every Nigerian to rebuild the country.
It read in part, “That is why we want Nigerians to access the policy directly and ultimately take ownership of it,” it said, adding, “Our campaign offers a simple message: United, the people of Nigeria can begin anew, creating a prosperous and secure future and a better life for every Nigerian.
“Our policy document focuses on creating jobs, ensuring security, growing business, developing power and water infrastructure, agriculture and education and how we will empower women.
“Our policies outline the goals and methods for developing and revitalising Nigeria as the foundation of our campaign. This policy document is being launched to encourage a dialogue with the people of Nigeria, inviting everyone to join us in helping to get Nigeria working again.
“The PDP presidential candidate looks forward to conducting vital discussions as he travels across the length and breadth of Nigeria, meeting and talking with stakeholders – farmers, small business people, workers, students, mothers, and children.”

The document will promptly be uploaded on his website (www.atiku.org), (www.atikuabubakar2019.org) (presidentatikuabubakar.blogspot.com) and (letsgetnigeriaworkingagain.blogspot.com) for all Nigerians to access at no cost, a statement by the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization revealed yesterday.
“The decision of Atiku Abubakar to kick-start his Presidential campaign with the launch of his policy document is to reiterate his commitment to run an issue based campaign.

“On the first working day of the campaign, the PDP and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar will put forward his plan to get Nigeria working again.
“We have chosen to do this by having the PDP Presidential candidate speaking directly to the Nigerian people on Facebook. This medium came about as part of the telecommunications revolution that he helped start as Vice President in 1999-2007.
“We have also chosen to have our candidate speak online as it facilitates the ability for anyone to download a copy of his policy document at no cost, as we intend this to be the policy of every Nigerian,” the statement read in part.

PRESS RELEASE: FLAG OFF ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE ATIKU/OBI 2019 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN - SEGUN SHOWUNMI

The Spokesman of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization just few minutes ago had a Facebook live video to announce the official commencement of the Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign.
In his words he said, ‘’Dear Citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Ours is a land of many hills, networks of crisscrossing rivers, lush green vegetation, and the most spectacular sunset in the world. Yet it is you the Nigerian people who are our great nation’s most beautiful treasure. So great is the value of every Nigerian, that on you alone can the power to determine your leaders, the custodians of the Nigerian will, be fully entrusted’’.
The opportunity has come once again for you to determine those individuals who best embody that popular will, to manage your affairs for the term period of Four years. Needless to say, you have been inundated with the disruptive media advertisements and dissonant promotions of conversations, around what ought to be the issues in this campaign.
Kindly accept my sincere apologies that your normal lives and the daily activities of our industrious people may have to endure some more barraging of narratives for a while longer; from political parties and candidates, my humble self, and His Excellency; Atiku Abubakar, inclusive. But I want to say to you, that we have no real alternative.
The fathers and the founders of participative democracy took a leap of faith by insisting that those of voting age within any space have a right and a duty to have a say in who governs them, and how their affairs will be managed. That truly is the foundation of a government of the people, for the people, and by the people; which is the hallmark of our democracy and a grave responsibility that I must charge you to take very seriously.
As the campaigns commence today; I, on behalf of Atiku Abubakar; the former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Waziri of Adamawa and the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party of Nigeria, entreat you to come along on a journey wherein I will be speaking about the issues that concern us as a nation.
With automation being predicted to replace an incredible Eight Hundred Million jobs globally by 2030, the issues we need to deliberate upon during these elections should be on how to reinstate for a start, the Eleven million workers who lost their jobs only Four years after we celebrated our emergence as Africa’s largest economy.
While nobody can restore the lives of over Twenty Thousand Nigerian civilians lost to boko-haram alone, or the scores of communities that have been sacked by criminal insurgents in the farmer/herdsmen crises; if we dwell our campaign on issues like reworking the security architectures of the nation, then there is genuine hope for the over Two Million internally displaced citizens of Nigeria, and the Nine Million innocent civilians in urgent need of focused intervention.
When you hear me and every member of the Atiku Presidential campaign insisting on an issue-based campaign, it is because we are insisting on opening up opportunities in the Nigerian economy; we are insisting on creating greater value for our people, and we are insisting on working hand in hand to unite the country and bring it back from the brink of a shamelessly ill-contrived disintegration.
This issue-based campaign that will usher in the transformed Nigeria we all earnestly yearn for by 2019 is about getting Atiku Abubakar, all other leaders you appoint to all the elective positions, and every Nigerian wherever you may be; to get together, roll up our sleeves, and work out how we can put safe spaces over the heads of all Nigerians.
I sometimes ask myself why Atiku Abubakar bothers, and then I recall his humble beginnings in Jada, and where he has reached today. He enjoyed scholarships, both from the native authority and from the Federal Government. He also had the opportunity of serving for Twenty years in the security of a job in which He rose to the level of the Deputy Director of the Nigerian Customs.
Tapping from the opportunities available in private sector and business in Nigeria, He was privileged to have become one of the respected entrepreneurs who have created more opportunities in almost every industry. From education to agriculture; manufacturing to media; logistics to consultancy; and what have you, Atiku Abubakar has made giant strides and left a positive impact, and He owes it all to a principled Nigeria; emerging at the time, on solid democratic foundations.
Also; having had the opportunity to be the heartbeat of the Presidency as Vice President, I often debate with myself on if it would be okay for His Excellency to retire to the querencia of an idyllic family life with his children, from where he could leisurely pursue philanthropy; or if he has the energy within him, the passion and the plan, to transform this country and give our people the opportunity to bound into the Fourth industrial revolution?
This is a revolution which by the way is very inexorable, operosely demanding, and defiantly takes no prisoners… so many of the great nations we admire today will inevitably be left behind in the coming revolution, and the reason why I know he ‘bothers’ to champion the Nigerian cause, is because the inconvenience of electioneering is not a valid enough excuse for him to fetter the transformation that will poise our great nation to maximize the chances of seizing the glorious future for a greater Nigeria.
Atiku Abubakar bothers because he recognizes it as his responsibility to let every Nigerian know that we have a brilliant chance to build a brighter future for ourselves, if given the basic opportunities of a functional Nigeria. He bothers because “Every generation must out of relative obscurity, discover its mission, fulfill it, or betray it”.
As such, I have to reiterate that this campaign must be about the issues. Do not hesitate to ask the questions you wish to have answers to, but let them be the questions that allows us to show you the road-map to this our noble vision. We must; as a matter of urgency, detoxify the political arena; and with your help, His Excellency plans never to stray from the appropriate narratives and only accommodate the pertinent issues.
I know Atiku Abubakar has been thinking about this for a longer period; and perhaps it will take his rivals a bit more time to see the global advantage in reducing the narrative tensions and divisive politics which Africa has gotten its self locked into. As citizens, Atiku Abubakar bids you to do what is your duty. Your duty is to be peaceful, your duty is to be law abiding, but for the purposes of selection, your duty is to get yourself ready to exercise that sacred franchise that participatory democracy offers you by going out en masse to vote.
As our volunteers, staff, supporters, and the entire Atiku Presidential campaign train moves through the nooks and crannies of the country, I plead with you to welcome them with open arms; they are your friends and neighbours, your colleagues and your kinsmen. Listen to them; provide them with the questions that they may be able to answer, and accept my assurance that we will pass on to Atiku Abubakar, the questions beyond our scope if any. As a fan of the media, you are all witness to His Excellency’s presence in the public spaces of all popular media; this is because the voice of every Nigerian matters to him.
Welcome to the campaign seasons of the 2019 general elections. A platform the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party intends to utilize in showing the entire world that African democracy has indeed come of age. Join us, and together let’s get Nigeria working again.
